About
the Con:
Kin-Yoobi
Con is a new and upcoming annual anime con. We did it big and wild July
6, 2007, which was our first time! With Cosplay competitions, video
game tournaments, table top gaming, live musical performances and a
whole lot more activities and events we made a lasting impression on
those who came. Since Kin-Yoobi Con of 2007 was a success, we're
hosting Kin-Yoobi Con of 2008, August 9, 2008! We'll be having many
more activities and events lined up. Best of all, Kin-Yoobi Con is
conveniently held at Chabot College in Hayward, California, in the
heart of the East Bay, so you don't have to travel far to enjoy anime
fandom and video gaming fun if you reside in the San Francisco Bay
Area! We're doing it bigger and better in 2008, hope to see you there!
Those otakus out there that know a little
something something about the Japanese language might be wondering why
Kin-Yoobi Con is called what it is. Kin-Yoobi is Japanese for Friday
however this con is being held this year on a Saturday. The reason is
because Kin-Yoobi Con was first held on a Friday. Even though we knew
holding the con on a Friday wouldn't nearly bring as much attendance as
on a Saturday we didn't have the funds necessary to do it on a
Saturday. Even still, our first con turned out to be a success. Now
that we have the resources and funds to hold the con on a Saturday we
still want to hold on to our humble roots and keep the name as a
reminder of the determination and drive that was put forth to make the
con happen even though the situation was largely against our favor.
